It's cheaper to buy goldfish pond pellets than hikari Cichlid gold. Do you guys think it will be ok?

Depends upon the ingredients. Some goldfish pellets are made with quality ingredients, others are junk.

Depends upon the manufacturer and the ingredients they use. NLS makes a quality goldfish pellet that doesn't dirty the tank.
