I just bought a used truvu tank.

Dimensions:
length:8 feet
height:30 inches
depth: 18 inches

I want to put this little tank up on cinder blocks. Is this a good idea? How many blocks should I use and how should they be arranged? Thanks.

Just make sure you elevate it to your desired height, but keep in mind, you may want to have it 2 cinder blocks wide per 'stand' to keep it from swaying as much. And you may want to have a stand every 2 or 3 feet.

One every two or three feet sounds scary (?). I was thinking I should have no more than six inch spaces between blocks. Reassure me?

I have a picture of a 240G (8ft) on cinder blocks with just 4 'stands'. They are 2 blocks wide but so long as you have a sturdy peice of wood to sit the tank on, you should be fine. You could go with 6" if you wanted, it would make the stand VERY strong, but do you plan on housing any canisters or sumps in there?

I would buy a mess of them pile them up three high all four corners two piles in the middle (one in the front one in the back). Put a thick piece of wood down (a little bigger than the tank in all directions) then 2 inch Styrofoam over the wood. You can drape a black sheet over all of this to get a "neater" look (I never consider neat, only effectiveness). Good luck....

Is the ply sheet necessary? I wasn't planning on doing that.

what is the sytrofoam for? slippage?

Leveling and weight dispersion...(not as necessary as the wood.....)
