I just came home to find my Texas and Hartwegi building a nest. Less than half an hour later, there are eggs. The Texas is the female. Can they produce viable fry? If so, I am going to section off the tank.

Yeah why not...similar fish, similar geographics....well almost similar

Here's the deal: The Texas laid the eggs, and the Hartwegi appeared to fertilize them, and now doesn't seem to give a damn, standard sex procedure, whether human or fish I am guessing. So I blocked off the tank, leaving the Texas to guard the eggs. Sound OK?

lol.

That's what I would have done. Sounds good to me.

I just am not sure if they can hybridize. Is that Oddballer drinking Guiness in your avatar?

You never know. Should find out in a couple of days if the eggs are any good or not.

...not that I know anything about breeding. I think that the last fish that I had the actually had some babies, was a pair of guppies. lol

I found another avatar, just have to get it switched. It's an SI tach revving. :D

We'll see about the eggs. Get that avatar up. Anyone else know about these hybridizing?
