I was wondering if it is possible to breed convicts without having to remove male, female, or fry as i have no more room or tanks. I was going to, if possible, try just one pair in a 20 gal, just to supply enough feeders for occasional treats for my jag.

yes, i have a pair spawning every 2.5 weeks. no problems

depends what you're feeding them to? reach 1/2 inch in about 4 weeks

Not all the time. I have a pair in a 25 gal that are doing fine together. I used to have some giant danios in there but out of pity for them I took them out. My convicts were fine with each other till I did that. Then they turned some aggression towards each other. The mothers mouth got injured and infected. Now they seem to be doing good together again. I think its really relative to the fish and what you have in your tank.

agree with Lissa, i have corys and guppies in with my pair. gives them plenty to worry about instead of turning on each other. they are very good parents.

Iam feeding a 7 inch Jaguar. So after they produce their first fry and I wait at least 4 weeks before they are large enough to use as feeders how long after will they reproduce and or should i have had the first batch gone by then? I would be dedicating the 25 gal to the pair for feeders and so if recomended I would add something else for distraction if need be.Also when i purchase the convicts should they be full grown or does it matter?

From my experience you'll get them to breed much more often if you remove the fry once they are freeswimming.
