hey guys, im getting frustrated and just want to get new tank set up.... so is it possible to just plug the drilled drain hole, its 1.5" dia on the base... tank is glass, i can drill the stand top so it doesnt have to be flush but it would be a nice touch.... so is it possible, and whats the best approach?

I dont have any personal experience but maybe install a bulkhead with a cap on it?

or even silicone a chunk of glass over the hole...

I had an acrylic tank that I plugged the holes in. I bought acrylic and just cemented them over the holes with about 3/4inch around the outside of the opening for stability. If you are going to do this with glass, make sure it's thick enough to withstand the pressure be exerted from the weight of the water, and I'd make sure the patch was at least 1 inch larger on each side than the hole.

I'm sure one of the more experienced mfkers on here might have a better suggestion though, give it time, they always steer me in the right direction. :)

This scenario is similar to repairing a chipped windshield. Lightly silicone a piece of glass on the underside of the tank bottom. Piece should be large enough to extend approx. 1/2" beyond edge of hole. Fill the hole with liquid, two-part epoxy. I would recommend a 30 minute curing time. Overfill the hole so that the epoxy overflows a bit onto the glass. Try to get the epoxy which is designed for potable water systems. On the other hand, standard epoxy is probably ok, given the small diameter of the hole.

you can buy bulk heads and thread caps on them.... alot easier and takes about 5 minutes... no waiting for cements or silcone to cure
