A crazy idea came to mind.. Is it possible to breed a Male Flowerhorn with a female Electric Blue jack Dempsey?

What do you think the fry would look like?

Yes, it is possible, give it a shot.

the blue gene is only able to multiple in its on gene meaning only blue gene plus blue gene will crate blue gene so it wont be passed on
I would have to disagree with that as far as my experience with EBJD goes. I have done EBJD crossing with another EBJD and the entire batch turned out to be normal JD. I crossed one of those frys that it produced into another normal JD and the entire batch turned out to be EBJD? The electric blue genes itself is random. And it is a natural color gene, not genetically designed. You can never cross a EBJD with another EBJD and get EBJD batch in return. Although I didn't say it isn't possible, very possible but the chance is 50/50 and that is considered very slim in the fish world of breeding. If JD breeders can breed these EBJD with another EBJD and get EBJD all the time. Then I HIGHLY doubt that the price for one of these guys would rocket 2X or 3X more than the regular JD.
As far as breeding JD or EBJD with a flowerhorn being possible? Yes it has been done. As JD and EBJD shares every single same genetic, same fish for that matter. Just a little different in color genetic. Still possible to breed and get that electric blue color gene to come out. But chance is very slim I'd tell you that...good luck on it if your attempting this project. :D

i don't think it will work but that just my opinion. :)

thats y this EBJD are expensive i see.
imo you could come out with some amazing fry ther could be alot of possible looks depending on the flowerhorn and since is a male they will look more fh like then jd,
some might look like jds tho. there relly no telling what they will look like we can only imagen, you would have to breed the to find out.
