Is it possible to over bacteriaalize your tank? (put too much bateria in there) i used safe start as a water clearer, but since its also a tank cycler i was wondering if using it to clear m water on a regular basis is dangerous.

it is possible to get bacterial blooms from poor tank maintenance. that can suffocate fish. I have no idea if you can OD on safestart. what do you mean you used it as a water clearer? from my understanding it is ONLY a tank cycler.

I would think that any extra bacteria would starve and die off,not sure if the dead bacteria would pose as any threat to your fish though.

My tank gets a water change every week of at least 20-30%. After that when the water is all cloudy (planted tank substrate that I forgot to wash out) I add the safestart. It says its a water clearer like five times on the back as well. When I first got it I thought they gave me the wrong one cuz thats all the bottle talked about. Lolz
