Does anyone have experience feeding garden slugs to stingrays? It would be nice to supplement their food, but I'm wondering if they are toxic to stingrays (or other fish).

I know some freshwater fish here in the UK eat slugs but weather they are safe for Freshwater Rays i have no idea? There are plenty of other foods avaliable that you can use to give your ray a varied died.

I would suggest you do not. Pick up a slug and even under running water the slime does not come off, think some of this slime can be harmful with some slugs....would not risk it. I expect the fish that do eat slug pick them up once the slug has died and slime come off.. I could be totally wrong but why risk it with so many foods avail.

We get scores of the big 6-inch slugs here. If I could use them, it would help cut the cost of feeding several large rays.

A better question is will your fish eat slugs. Most fish won't touch them. I take dead ones out of my pond all the time.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to answer that question except by offering the slugs and seeing if they eat them. I was hoping to get an idea of whether it was safe before I tried that experiment. :)

I have those big leopard slugs here as well. I think I even asked the question many years ago and never ran into anyone that had fed them. The craziest thing I have fed was leeches from Walmart. The rays loved them but only fed them 1 tub. I would risk the slugs, they are just nasty.
