Is it safe to re-use old media?

I have a load of substrat pro from an old tank setup which I closed down a while back. The media has completely dried out and has been kept in a bin bag for the last 6 months or so.

Is it safe to re-use? Should I boil it first? It seems such a waste to throw away such expensive media!

I would rinse it thoroughly with hot water and use it with confidence... if you want to be extra cautious you can boil it...

I thought it'd be okay. Thanks for the confirmation! I think I will boil it just to be on the safe side.

I have reused media w/o any problems in the past. Just make sure you rinse well.

You can just flush it under water and use it as long as you are sure that there is no contamination. Else just boil it for very short duration.
