HEllo guys! will algae affect the arowana??

I woke up yesterday morning and was shocked to see my tank green... slowly to the night, it was super green cloudy! My friend ask me to get OceanFree Super Green away, NOt working..

Not so much so i had the same problem seemed like a algae bloom of some sort, water was greenish and such take care of the problem with some tetra algae removal product just be sure to take carbon out if there is any. Be sure your tank isnt to close to the window or where its receiving more than 8 hours of light reguarly by doing so u should have clean algae free water conditions. Am a current owner of a Jardini arowana as well he/she about 8-9"inches.

currently i have a temp. set up, my High back golden is still 6" so i bought a temp. 3ft tank for it. till it gets bigger, then i'll transfer it to my 6ft tank.
anyway i'm planning to get a UV light, hope it resolve the matter faster!

Bro, use some Waterlife Algizin P, that would nuke away the algae

Most LFS like C328 do carry them

To prevent future outbreaks you might want to consider the following

  • Reduce nitrate levels (increase waterchange or reduce stock level & feeding)
  • Make an algae filter (if you have a sump)
  • Invest in a good UV light

Make an algae filter (if you have a sump), okay this is interesting! i have a sump for my 6ft, a 4 ft sump tank. how do i go about!

get a UV sterilizer! cleared my green water in about two and a half days. :D

which UV sterilizer did you get? and how big is your tank?

The main idea is to let water flow down a film and shine light on the film, creating optimum condition for algae to grow on it.
So basically you are moving the algae from your tank, to the algae filter.

You only need a pump, pipes and fittings, a lamp and a film with high surface area (Etc. PVC mesh)

OH my lots of words! but still interesting though, is that really necessary? haha is there an easier way! haha

Use anti-algae solution like Algizin. I know most people say not to use them as the chemicals could be harmful for the livestocks.
But that only applies for those not so famous brand products. I never use Algizin before but I do use their Sterazin, which works very well for me.

You can also try Blagdon Barley Extract.

Contains only natural extract, works great and does not harm your livestocks.
I got mine from Polyart aquarium, which is near C328
