so I've got a space that is 5*2*2 , I was thinking of getting a 4.5-2-1.5 tank for that spot. but want to stock it with an argentea or maybe an rtm or yellow jacket cichlid.
do you guys think the 18 inches of height would be sufficient ? cause I'll need the left out 6 inches for the maintenance .
the cichlid will be a solo wet pet.

Since depth is not really relevant for these species (they can be found in fairly shallow water in nature) , it will work.
The tank is a little small, otherwise, but if you keep the tank to only 1 individual it could work.
I have kept these species in larger tanks, and not had success with tank mates.

Danger, Will Robinson! Danger!

I think you will find that doing all the maintenance on that tank with only a 6-inch clear space above it will be a PITA of epic proportions. The contortions required to stick your arm through the gap far enough to allow you to reach the bottom will get old really fast. Doing it with a fish that has the potential for giving you little love bites while you work will only add to the fun. Don't ask how I know.

Won't be a problem , I work with 6 inch of space cause I've had Aquarium racks previously where only 6 inch was left in between tanks.
Btw this tank will be minimal , no substrate, only maybe some rocks. As I'm a student and cannot afford much time in fishkeeping but I don't want to leave keeping large cichlid that's why . ?
