So my 15 inch RTC bubba is usually always ready to eat each and everyday at the same time. However this past week or so he has not touched his daily food he now eats every other day. Still he is always playing around with his food and gently grabing it in his mouth and spitting it back out and doing this over again. I still offer him food everyday but he will now only eat every other day or every two days with still little to no interest in his food is it time to start once a week feelings? Or is he still too small he is only 15 inches if it's not time for once a week feedings than how often should I feed. I feed him approximately 1/3 of a small tilapia fillet cut into pieces and occasional krill+massivore

How much do you feed at a time? Ive noticed that with larger rtc they digest much slower than a smaller rtc. You can reduce the amount you feed in one sitting and feed every other day qith no ill effect. Imo unless the fish is on a hunger strike i dont do only weekly feedings. I do smaller amounts every other day even when they are large. If you do larger meals the longer u need to wait between feedings. Hope this helps.

Sounds good. Might try some shrimp some also. Rtc are known crstacean eaters in the wild. :) also judge by his belly. Try not to stuff untill he looks like a football with fins. Just round the belly and when its flat again its a safe bet its ready for more food. :)

Any observed change in appetite warrants immediate and thorough water check. Has you bio-filtration been coping as he has been growing? It may be as simple as an ammonia and/or nitrite rise after each feeding... or WC are insufficient and nitrates accumulate...

When feeding a few fish and having the time, what Cliff says is great. When I had 100 mouths to feed, I did it once in 5-7 days. Both can be done quite successfully.

No no it's not the water conditions I think he is just sowing down on his metabolism I've been feeding him smaller portions and he has Shown so much more interest as of today

If all checks out, then nothing to worry for now. Just close observation. RTCs are eating machines but not 100% of the time. Their appetite waxes and wanes too sometimes.... for some good but hard to pinpoint reason. Diet changes, temp change, water quality change, tank mates, swallowing inedible items or substrate, overfeeding, spoiled food, water contamination, tank size, minor/mild illnesses, malnutrition, some nutrient deprivation, and many others can be thought of.
