I'm planning on setting up a Tanganyikan tank and plan on using sand as substrate. Well, is it true that if i use sand as substrate, the fish waste (poop!) will never get trapped under the sand like gravel, but instead it will just lay on top of the surface of the sand and eventually get push to the overflow & filter by the water current?

There is less intergain penetration but it usually just sits there.

Mine sits on top of the sand in my Frontosa tank. Looks dirty but once my fish get a little bigger they will swoop it up by swimming by and the filter will take care of it.

python is ur best friend when you have sand

it takes 2 mins to do a nice sized water change and pick up the poop along with about a half teaspoon of sand

thank goodness for the python. i would mount mine over the fireplace if it wouldn't melt! ;)
