I met a MFK member who collected a lot of datnoids. He told me he preferred NTT over Indos because NTT are usually stable, but Indos can become unstable for no reason. I've owned a bunch of IT dats before and they were usually unstable even when the water conditions were very good and I did a lot of water changes. I've just had a couple NTT's but they look very bright and stable.

So is it true? Are NTT more likely to be stable than the others?

I've noticed quite the opposite. I have 1 Indo at 9", 1 Indo at 5-6" and both are stable and my 2 NTT at 3-4" are unstable.

They tend to be but it's not something you can consider a fact. NTT seem to be stable more often than IT in most cases. That's in my experience keeping a few of both fish and observations in person and on videos. Though I wouldn't put as much stock in videos because who's going to post videos of an unstable datnoid?
