I have heard that if a rbp's belly is red it isn't hungry, but if a rbp's belly is silver it is hungry. This doesn't work for any of my rbp's. Does it work for yours?

Never seen that but they get pale if stressed.

not true at all.
if a rbp is hungry it will eat and if its not hungry it wont i dont think it would change the colouring.
p's do lose colour if stressed but so do quite a lot of fish.
they do lose colour after resting or when i turned the lights on the took a while to colour up.

Ah i sorry but if that were true it would be a evolutionary disaster. Cuz all the prey would know exactly when to "RuN"!!!

anyone watch that piranha special pn discovery channel the host said they turn grey when mating mine go from grey to red as the please it seems

My red bellies only lose their color when all the lights are off. Most of the time their bellies are bright red ( they are all wild ) and they eat like pigs. Sometimes I dont feed them for few days and they still have bright red bellies.
