First post.....Great site!! I have had this silver aro for a year....Seems to be developing drop eye in one eye......Just attaining size. Only 9 inches.

Mine developed drop eye at 5-6", although it wasn't very noticable until it was 6.5-7". What I'm wondering is how you have had an aro for a year and it's only 9"...

Probably about 7 months really....My Jardini busted out after a year and I brought this guy in.....

It can happen even when very young, so it's not surprising.

It should be much larger than 9" at this point though.

What size tank? Feeding regimen? Water change schedule?

Not at just 7 months old, but yeah if it really was a year old, then that definitely wouldn't be normal.

This is not a big tank.....55 gallon. It is fine in there for another three months...eating large crickets, frozen silversides and lots of Hikari sticks....30% change every week....over filtered tank......All the fish are very healthy but the tank is at capacity now.

Appreciate the response! I was reading alot about how drop developes in larger fish.....Nothing mentioned about 5-10inch. Thanks again!

I wouldn't leave it in there for 3 more months if I were you. I'd start looking for a much larger tank now rather than waiting for it to outgrow its current tank (which really it already has. Young aros need to have plenty of space to avoid stunting and other health issues).

Go get him bois

I know it. Looking now. should have it in place before too long. Seems to have plenty of space for now. I am changing water more frequently now and i have doubled my aeration.
