Does anyone here think a 125 gallon tank with home made stand is worth a 50-75 gallon reef ready tank? The 125 gallon has no extras with it at all. no lights, filters, glass tops, etc. Just tank and stand.

I was thinking about posting on craigs list and see what came up. The 125 gallon tank is really too big for where i live right now. Maybe at a later time i'd get another but for now 50-75 is perfect.

Opinions?

no not even close. No offense but a reef ready setup is a whole new monster. My 14 gallon nano reef setup cost me twice as much as my 110. a reef ready 75 setup depending on what you consider reef ready would cost atleast 700 if not well over 1000 dollars. Live rock alone would be worth more than the 125.

I would say no reef tanks need alot of expensive stuff

well mainly I am looking for a tank that has the filter, heater, skimmer, lights. No live rock or coral.

Lights alone for the 125 gallon would be very expensive.

do you have reef experience?

the lighting on any size thank for a reef can run upwards of a $1000 The lowest ive seen for lighting that was of good quality was around $300 for a 2 foot fixture! :WHOA:
