I was at a shop yesterday that has mostly reptiles and they have this wood for sale called “wacky wood” I googled it trying to figure out if it’s safe to use with fish but didn’t find any info that says it is or is not. Definitely meant for reptiles and birds but it looks awesome. I believe it’s Lima root here’s a pic off google. 
Anybody ever seen it in an aquarium? I haven’t but it looks pretty great and want to try it.
