Hi all,

I just got a Mayan Cichild from a friend and wondering if it is common.

Looks nice but I doubt I've seen many folks selling it in Singapore.

Cheers,
Jeric

I´m going to be completely honest with you Jeri, considering EVERYONE on here has a festae and only a few members have Mayans, I would say Mayans are definately becoming less common in the hobby. Mayans are beautiful interesting fish full of personality that don´t die of mysterious causes and break the bank. I would recommend them to anyone. they are relatively common in the US but im not sure about Singapore. When I lived in England I only saw them once and I brought it.

interesting thing also about Mayans is they are said to be found in sometimes almost full marine conditions, they can tolerate a lot of salt.

Do you have a picture of your guy?

heres a fun game, scroll down this and the media section and see how many times you see the word festae mentioned, this should surely show you how common they are on MFK compared to the Mayan cichlid

u can say so.

But they are rare because of their name as false festaes and nobody wanna keep them. I dont know who's the dmbassss who made that name their name..

But they are rarer than festaes these days. because festaes are Festaes. Nobody call them false Mayans. Mayans are called false festaes because they and festaes look similAR. bUT THEY ARE DIFFERENT IN THEIR OWN WAYS..

when I posted my post the top 4 threads on the media section, 3/4 were festae related. says a lot really. I´ve also heard people who have kept both say that mayans have better personalities than festae

mayans are way better i really like them :) i had 1 but he became real aggressive and killed my butti and started attacking alll so unfortunately had to give it away to a better house much bigger than mine so i m happy he is doing good and i enjoyed keeping him :)
