I need to treat my 220 gallon tank for ick.....I always seem to get a spot here and there every few months, but the residents dont seem to be bothered nor does it get bad, just a spot here and there.....tank conditions are fine, and I usually keep coppersafe in there. Other tankmates are silver dollars and a large Jardini Arowana...... I would like to knock this out once and for all, and I have been told that Metro will do the trick......next time I think I will buy a UV.....any thoughts or concerns about Metro?

Metro is not designed to destroy ich parasites but bacteria. That's not an option for you if you are trying to eliminate ich. And ich can reside and attack the gill tissues so if you really have ich around there, then you must try to complete the ich treatment course to eliminate the parasites completely.

What are all your fish in there?
How high is the temperature?

Thanks for replying Lupin! I went with Paraguard instead. BTW Metro does say that it works for external parasite, Hexamita and Ich......Its definitely ick, but just a few spots on a few fish (clowns only) and infrequent scratching....tonote will be the third nite of ParagardLupin;4767648; said:
