So I have these discussions with my friends every now and then. I strongly feel Mexico is going from bad to worst, and it's happening fast. They are quickly becoming the new Middle East. Only difference is, you don't hear about it on the news as much. From what I've seen, the violence that takes place is much, much for vicious and brutal.
Terrorists on the other side of the pond are mostly suicide bombers. But the 'terrorists' in Mexico take part in some of the most savage killings I've seen. I've seen tons of videos, emails, law enforcement reports, etc that honestly make me nauseous. Some of the videos I cannot even finish watching. The manner in which these drug cartels kill people is impossible to describe.
Pictures of SUVs full of decapitated bodies, charred bodies, heads and limbs in ice chests and barrels left on the side of the road, faces stitched to soccer balls, gruesome beheadings in which the videos are posted all over the web, torsos hanging from bridges, opening fire on a bunch of kids...
and just recently, the mass grave of 72 bodies found. and just last night, the fire bombing of a bar in Cancun. Cancun!!!! Not even tourists are safe.
The government is weak and powerless. The drug cartels run that country, they set up road blocks and go to war with each other in broad daylight. The lead investigator of the mass grave killings just went missing a few days ago. They take out those in power and those that oppose them.
And the scary part, all this is happening right next door, not on the other side of the world. It's only a matter of time before this drug war starts to spill over to the US, more than it already has.
So what do you guys think? If the Mexican government were to ask the US for help, should we step in?
