My house
I am currently housing the following fish (all juvies):

1 albino tiger Oscar
2 clown loaches
1 Synodontis Hybrid (4?)
1 Bristle nose pleco

I am running two emperor 400 filters with bio wheel. I do water 30% changes religiously every 3 days and the readings off of my test strips have been fine.

I would maybe like to add one more...but I am not sure that I have enough room as is.

Opinions?

I don't know anything about the hybrid catfish and their waste production, but I've got 2 AC110s on my 75 with an O, GT, hi-fin pleco, and dithers, and it does its job well

though I may soon be adding an xp3 just for good measure... :P

Agreed on the oscar, it will eventually be the big dog and get too big for even that 75. If you feed them as much as most, it'll get big(10-12"?) and produce a bunch of fertilizer.

The Syn. is fine, they grow slow and should stay off the menu for the oscar.

As far as a top swimmer, I dunno, the oscar seems to be all over the place in my tank.

Personally, leave the stocking as it is, and let the fish that are in there grow into the tank, give it 6 months.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking about it today and came to the conclusion that I just want to put another fish in that tank so I can have another fish but I haven't really taken time with these guys yet. I think I'll take this six months to focus on planting the tank and watching them grow as a community. Then if I am ready for another tank I will work on getting a bigger tank for more fish.

Planting a tank with an oscar usually doesn't work. Oscars ten to make the tank their own.

So I have heard. I came across this problem a bit when I first got the little guy. I talked to a friend of mine who kept Oscar before about the issue and they suggested that I keep something floating at the water's surface. They said that in their experience Oscars pull up plants because they feel uncomfortable without overhead cover.

I put a couple of small logs that I was trying to sink into the 75 along with some corks I tied with Java moss (just in case he simply enjoyed having a toy to play with) and have been planting it slowly. He/She has stopped tinkering with all the plants excluding the java moss (which the o did start playing with). Akin to what my buddy said my little O does spend a good deal of time hiding underneath the log as well.

I'm sure that I will have further issues with plants in the Oscar tank eventually but for now he seems to enjoy swimming through them instead of ripping them up.
