I have this one male Betta who I've wanted to breed but he wont build a bubble nest. I've introduced females, the waters still, I've even been feeding him blood worms for the last week whats going one. I've had him for just over a year is he to old? And when I put females in he dose not really care. I made the joke that he might be *** but I don't think fish can be.

Many animals in the animal kingdom can be ***. Probably even fish.

Bottom line is, you can't force him to breed, so just make peace with it, or buy another one for breeding or something.

EDIT: Why is the word "***" edited out? It's not a bad word...

ok great news last night this dude had no bubble nest this morning after asking this quetion he has started a great looking bubble nest. But this bring me to another issue my other male betta had mad a huge nest like 2.5 inch by like 3 inch and then let it die anddosent seem intrested in buildng another one. Should I just chill and wait?

Homosexual fish? i've seen guppys try to breed with platies, and males try to breed with males, but never a "true" homosexual fish. I think they are just confused lol.:screwy:

Assuming the censored word is what i think it is...

Maybe because they're "lower level"? I notice it happens a lot with birds and mammals, though.

Do you "prime" or "condition" your betta's to breed - i've read this improves the male instinct to build

:D

LOL how exactly would you do that?
make him compete for the female.

get like a 20 long with 2 males and a dozen females.
lol, just a thought.

I have a really fat feamale in with my male and shes terrified of him. Should I stick her in a float so he wont hurt her. hes really mellow he dosen't do anything to her. I seen him once take a nip out of her tail thats it. He is big though.

K guy Ive got bubble nests now do I put the lady so he can see her but not get to her or do I through her in there?
