I was doing a WC and my intake on my XP3 came loose, well I didn't notice it and I have no idea how long it was running dry. When I try to start it now nothing happens.:irked:

Do I just have a expensive piece of plastic now? :(

Does the impellar turn at all when plugged in? Did you reprime the filter before starting?

It seems to be working fine now, it just needed to be reprime'd.

Thanks.

I think the design of the Xp3 does not require water for the motor to cool. So if for some reason there is an absense of water it doesn't ruin it.

I've ran the water too low to the point that it sucked in air before and when it happened in the past the filter was still making noise, this time other than a slight hum the filter seemed to be dead. Usually once the intake was fully submerged it would start as soon as I plugged it in. Once I went thru the priming process it fired up like nothing happened.

Good thing too because a new motor is $65 ($10 cheaper than what I bought the filter for). :)
