I have three 11 inch silver arowanas, and they've got quite an appetite. Although the package for the hikari food sticks says it has everything the arowanas need, and that live food can be eliminated, I have heard otherwise from other threads. So here is my feeding schedule (the number is for all 3 arowanas as a whole):

monday: 30 food sticks in the morning, 15 mealworms at evening.
tuesday, wednesday, thursday: 30 food sticks morning / evening.
friday: 30 food sticks morning / 20 medium sized crickets at night.
saturday: 20 medium sized crickets morning / 15 mealworms night.
sunday morning: 15 mealworms morning / 15 mealworms night.

and cycle through.
I would actually prefer to just give my arowanas nothing but food sticks, if that would be just as beneficial as this schedule. However, if introducing crickets and mealworms will really make a difference, i'd be glad to buy them some. Tell me what you guys think!

I feed mine prawns, superworms, pellets
Once a day and staggered
Always had awesome success with this combo.
Dont feed them too much or you will get PLJ or drop eye faster ;)

oh really? feeding them twice a day isn't good? how much food do you give them, and are superworms better than mealworms in any way?

Well you could feed em 3 times a day if you want but its almost like gutloading them :)
If you have the time and the food go for it but its excessive.... you will get Huge aro's though
I like superworms cus they are bigger and have a bit more in them

2X a day is fine.

Thanks guys! so there's nothing wrong with my schedule right? and i buy the crickets farm bred, and put them in a jar with a bunch of carrots. Do i do the same with mealworms? cuz i keep those in the fridge :o

I keep mine room temp in a rubbermaid with oats and bran with carrots for moisture. And if you dont feed em fast enough a few will become beetles.... they you get baby supers :)

At 11" each, i think superworms would be more filling unless you're not looking at getting them too stuffed. Superworms are just what they are, super big and definitely more than mealworms.

How many superworms do you think would be good for each arow? (I give 2 servings a day.)
