So i have my female normal who as of right this second is 1247g after eating a medium rat. I know she was a little over 2 years old when I bought her so I'm pretty sure she is old enough to breed, but you think that 1247 on full would be pushing it? I am not dedicated to the idea of breeding her this season but I think she would be up to the task. It would be my first clutch so I'm not entirely sure if it would be a good idea or not. Any input would be great. If worse comes to worse I have no problem with waiting until next year for her to get a little heftier.

I think a better question is... is there a reason to breed her?
Ball pythons are already way over bred as it is and if she isn't anything special and isn't carrying any interesting genes then there is really no point and won't even be worth it. Even if she has hets- if they are more common ones it's the same thing and if they aren't then the price tag will be to high for this economy anyways.

I would wait another year but I agree with Sylvias. If you are breeding her and plan on keeping the babies then go for it but I don't think the world needs more ball pythons honestly.

Most breeders i have heard from suggest 2000 grams empty for breeding . and i also agree the market for normals is rough , like 10-15 each .

I see, I understand that, but I am friends with the owner of a store and I know he'd love to take them off my hands. The male I want to breed her to is a pastel. I want to eventually get some super pastels
