IS MY FISH PREGNANT!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!

so i just got a platty from the lfs and it has been about 2 weeks and it looks pregnant!!!!!!!! its belly is huge!!!!!!!!!
i dont have another platty in the tank but do have a molly which is a very similar fish is it possible that they bred or that it had allready bred at the lfs
or do i just have a fatty fish haha !!!

Most likely she was prego when you got her. They almost always are lol.. pics would help

Can you see a dark spot in front of her anal fin? If so, then yes, she probably is.

Platties (and other livebearers) can hold "spawn" for quite a long time and will often have multiple batches from a single spawn. She was most likely pregnant already.

I don't know if it's prego or not because I seen platies and ballon mollies that look prego. I remember when I did have mollies, the owner would net them out and put them in the bag, and all of a sudden, there would be a bunch of live baby mollies. I wondered if the stress makes them give birth. It was also good that the owner didn't charge me for the extra fish. I think you're going to have to wait because it's hard to tell even by looking at it. You can put it in another tank with a breeding tank inside where the babies fall thru the slots underneath the breeder tank and into the main tank so they won't be eaten. Wait a couple of days and you will soon know if it's prego. The Doctor.
