I have a 6x2x2 with a nice group of fish in most are small fish around 5inch along with a group of of 13 silver dollars, one of my fish is a male jd who is around the 10 inch size, he has a female around 7inch for company but he spends most of his time facing the back corner of the glass and not much time anywhere else in the tank, there isnt anything in there of any size to bully him so im guessing he iz maybe unhappy, any ideas why?

Maybe they spawned and a batch of fry is back there. He also may be guarding his territory. Do you see the JD eat?

He doesnt eat much atnthe minute, he has dug out a pit and the female does spend alot of time with him, he also spends alot of time twitching and shaking in front of her, could he just be waiting for some eggs?

It sounds like spawning behavior so keep observing for wriggler's possibly.

Yes Pleco will probably get to eggs at night when completely dark and the JD's can't see it. Give time I suggest do water changes with a degree or two cooler water and see if it stimulates the pair.

I did a water change yesterday, ill give it a few days then do another, will the eggs be safe from everything else in tank? Suppose they will guard them wont they?

Also observe for the breeding tubes to be dropped on both and that a sure ready to spawn sign.

Most time they should but new parents on rare occasions won't. I personally wouldn't disturb the pair because you may break the bond that they have.
