is my fx5 shedding?

im afraid to say i still dont have a good camera on hand.

but, my fx5's intake and output, after about a year of running, have turned white and r shedding, and the stuff its shedding floats to the top.

anyone else have this happen?
 
ya same here, lol! its like some sort of weird white algae that grows on the rubber. my flag tails tries to eat it, but it has a difficult time on account of the flow in that area.
 
yeah same thing here mine just wipes off with a papertowel , Ive always thought it was calcium

After nearly 3 years still no shedding on both fx5s.
 
All my fluvals do this...
 
Yes i think it is calcium deposit..a simple wipe off with a paper towel will suffice.
