I just picked up a used tank, dimensions are 72 x 18 x 20. It has two equally spaced 8" glass panes across the top.

Here's the rub..the glass is only 1/4 inch thick. and it has no plastic molding on the bottom or top. It looks like they were ripped off at some point because there's some residue silicone on the top and bottom outside of the tank.

If I reseal it and get my hands on a frame for the bottom is this thing safe for aquarium use? I've seen things online that say 1/4 will work for a tank this side and others that say 3/4 minimum. I hope I didn't waste my time buying this.

I wouldn't trust 1/4 in glass. It sounds to me like you bought a terrarium, not an aquarium.

Just confirmed that its a terrarium...kicking myself on this one. It will burst if I fill.
