At the dorsel fin, there is what looks to be some shed skin still attached.
Is this normal?

Should be gone the next time you look at them. Limas shed their slime coats during times of high stress, such as tank maintanence, lights being turned on, moving them, adding new fish, ect. Nothing to worry about unless it doesn't go away then it is probably some sort of fungus. Looks like the slime coat though. He might even go as far as to eat it. Mine eat theirs all the time.

nice lima by the way. I am going to try and get some updated pics of mine on here sometime, but I don't currently have the internet at my house, because my landlord is an idiot. I love mine. One is 10 inches, the other 13 inches. Had them for 8 months now.

mine grows damn slow. had it for about 6 months or so or just about (maybe it was a lil less) but i swear, he hasn't grown an inch. i feed him a variety of everything from catfish fillet, shrimp, carnivore pellets. it eats only when it wants to, so it is barely growing. my rtc on the other hand is dope. i like its growth rate. like 3" the first month lol

wow, I feed mine krill that they take from the top of the tank. Even from my hand. They get the ocassional minnows after I q-tank them first. They eat like pigs and grow fast as hell, both grew like 2 inches the first month and pretty consistantly an inch a month for the smaller one and 1 1/2 inches per month for the big one. They grow as fast as my TSN.
