Hey all, I have an African Lungfish that I got from Petsmart back in 2002 and he was about 8 inches long at that point. Of course they knew nothing about him, so I did my homework and decided to get him. He is now a big part of the family. Since we had him he has been in a 46g bow front tank and been eating, active and healthy. in Jan. 2008 he grew to the 2ft point and we upgraded him to an 55g long tank. it has sand and a few big river stones in a corner incase he has trouble coming up for air (but he is long enough to reach the top without having to work at it) and normally he likes to suck up the sand and blow it out of the holes on the side of his head. His diet is usually whatever meats we are having for dinner (hamburger, chicken, ect.) ill wash off any seasoning and he'll come up and eat it right out of my hand. I also go buy live food for him (small goldfish live bear, ghost, shrimp) and he eats the crap out of them. I recall once I put forty gold fish in with him along with other live food and in the morning I could only count 7 goldfish left. So what I'm getting at is to express just how much this guy eats. Well about three months ago I went to the store and got the usual live food for him shrimp gold fish and guppies well the shrimp all disappeared but everything else remained. And then he just stopped moving. Normally he would see someone walk by the tank and move or if he was sleeping I would just tap the glass and he would wake up and move. now the only thing I can do to get him to move is reach in and touch him and he will move around a bit and then just stop. And he's not eating anymore. I trying to give him his favorite things (night crawlers, steak, raw bacon, chicken, and salmon) he wont eat any of it. So I removed the remaining live food because they were starting to nip and his tail. So now I am at a loss I have no idea what could be wrong. He doesnt have any spots on him, no white fungi growing, and no signs of illness that I can see. So please help, let me know if there is something I can do to help him, if we lost him our family would be devastated
Thanks, Aaron and Mr. Lungfish
