What I have is a 29 gallon growout that is bare bottom. I wanted to add some plants into it so that my little flowerhorn spawn could run and hide from each other. I have a Broadleaf Anubia? attatched to some driftwood. Is it dying? Or is that just some algae growing on it...

Algae easily grows on my my slow growing anubus, if it looks like the pic below, that may be what it is.

Your new leaves look algae free, much like mine.

There is algae present, but also a lack of nutrients, and the yellowing of the leaves is a sign of bad things to come for that Anubias.

More nutrients? I've stuck to the dosage but I can always put more in as long as someone on here can vouch that it won't hurt my flowerhorn fry

Also is there a "best brand" for the liquid nutrient stuff? I don't want to lose it as I've invested a lot of time and effort to get it to attach to the driftwood

Dosing more broad spec fert blindly is worse than doing nothing. Most likely you are lacking in potassium, but without testing the levels, it will be impossible to say for sure.

What is there I can do then?
