A plecs digestive system is designed for a diet high in bulk fiber and low in protein, they need large amounts of vegetable/fruit matter and occasional protein. Their digestive system is designed to handle a lot of bulk material to attain a their nutritional needs, they need more than just a few low bulk/high protein algae wafers and whatever food they find leftover or a little algae growing in the tank.

So yeah, I'd say you should feed it some vegetables.

it's nice to add veggies and see if they'll have a go at it- try sweet potatoes. Something for them to rasp on.

Try boiling/blanching the veggies. Mine prefer how its softer after boiling. The other good benefit is that it will sink on its own.
Also, try studding/imbedding your NLS pellets in the veggies (zuchinni works well). Hopefully as the fish tries to eat the pellet, it'll learn to like to eat the veggies.

It will be fine on just the NLS since that food has plant mattter in it. I have used this food for years just make sure your pleco is getting his share..
