I bought my gold nugget pleco with the idea he would grow as fast as the other fish in the tank. This is not so. It is 3 inches and I bought him 6 months ago at about the same size give or take an inch. Now in the tank with it are some larger fish. There is a 4 inch Bichir, 7" jurupari, an 8" black ghost knife, 4" crayfish, 13" caecillian worm/eel. Im worried most about the bichir and the knife. Do you think it is safe or should I pull him out and put him in the community tank. It is in a 75 gallon now and the comm. tank is a 65 gallon sump. Thanks

They do grow slowly, an inch in 6 months sounds like a good growth rate. I dont think you should have any problems with it not getting any food because the other fish have different methods of consumption. I dont know anything about keeping crayfish but personally id be concerned that the gold nugget could end up as lunch for it.

ya you have to watch crawfish they will cut open your fishes belly when they are sleeping and eat them i would take the claws off the crawfish then he is no threat
