he/she JUST reached 4 inches in length. My turtle is only about 6-7 months old. Im suspecting it is a female because the claws should be longer at this point...

also, from the photos... is he/she in good health?

the turtle is always active besides when sleeping at night and begs for food every morning by splashing like crazy. Does the shell look like its in good health? Thanks!

and if the turtle is a female, what steps should I take to make the tank more comfortable for laying eggs? when will she lay eggs?
here are some photos...

Its a female. However beleave me when I say it will be a long time before she will lay her first eggs. The easiest way for you to house her permanently and make a suitable place for nesting would be to build her a outdoor pond in the long term if you can.

Female. If you divide the length of the tail in two, and the cloaca is in the half closest to the body, then it's usually female :) A male has a much larger, thicker tail, and the cloaca is further towards the tip of the tail.
