a 15cm(approx.) spotted gar in my tank has been behaving oddly recently. it floats around he tank listlessly/aimlessly. it was still eating this morning, but now it has stopped and just floats around. is it sick? i feed him quarantined feeder fishes(quarantined for about a week in the green general medicine). i changed about 30% of the water and he is still like that. i prodded it gently with a net but it didn't even flinch and just floated away. what should i do?

Ummm it doesn't sound like he is sick.
It is actually a pretty normal thing gars do ( as long as he's not spinning around upside down )
But it also could be starting symptoms of swim bladder because you are feeding him feeders ( even though you are using the green general it is still not recommended to feed your fish )
i feed my gar tilapia, silver sides, hikari pellets and every once in a while crickets.
I hope he makes it.
What size of tank do you have?

At it's current size feeders are what are recommended. Other than that there doesn't seem to be anything all that out of the ordinary in the behaviour. THey are ambush predators and don't actively swim about the whole time.

Without further information all I would suggest is to keep up on water changes and test your water.

hehe hes alright actually. didn't realise that someone else had put some goldfish in while i wasnt looking so he was actually just full :P
