I have a 200W stealth heater in my 90G and I set at about 83. normally my thermometer reads just below 83, but right now its at 77. should i assume its broken?

if so, should i get a 250W instead?

Depends, on how cold it is, if its not really cold in the room your in, for example if the room is like 70, then yes the heater is broken. However if it's really cold say like 60 or so in the room then you might need a second heater.

Glad you caught this, I lost some fish in a basement tank, due to the heater not being able to keep up with the cold..

i live in socal so its been pretty warm most of the time. right now its at least 73 in my living room.

i'll check the temp tomorow morning, if its still low, then i guess i'll have to buy a new one.

so should i get a 200 or 250W for my 90G?

life time warranty ... just send that thing back in...

can't... i bought this second used.

i just picked up a 250W brand new. solves that!

should be fine, I use a 250 in a 55, says its rated for 75 gallons, but I live in central PA and only set my house heat for 63-65. It stays right at 80. Even more impressive is that it is actually at the 80 degree mark on the dial:)
