Is my swordtail depressed or sick? Help me!

I had 5 swordtails. 1 male, 4 females. But the females all died! :sad: Now the lone male swordtail is just sitting there behind the heater and he won't come out unless there's food. And then he goes back.

Is he sick, or is he depressed from lack of mates?

id probably go with depressed, u should get some other females in there, cuz he might eventually die of depression

Hmm... I wasn't planning on getting any more females. I was going to get a school of zebra danios... my mom doesn't want me getting any more swordtails now. What should I do?

I don't know the perimeters cuz I don't have any test strips rite now but i'll get some soon. But the other fish are fine, soooo...

Id say sick.if all the other swordtails died Id figure hes on his way out from whatever killed the rest.

id go with sick too!! if all the 4 females just dies like that most ptobably the male is just fighting tje sickness back. we suggest u do a research on swordtails water parametes compatibility and check urs.

Is the tank cycled? If four of his mates died, Id say either there is a swortail blight, or your params are off. And dont buy test strips, as they are inaccurate, instead buy liquid test kits for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. You should have 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and 25 or under nitrates.
