i set-up my 100G tank for like 3 days now.. and i did some water testing..

here's the result:

pH = 7.6
HIGH RANGE pH = 7.4
AMMONIA = 0
NITRITE = 0
NITRATE = 0

this tank will be home of an african cichlids.. is my tank ready for the new occupants? or should i wait for 1-2 weeks? i can't wait that long.. please help me out..

thanks in advance..

nothing, but a tank cannot cycle in just 3 days dude, did you put bio in the filter from another filter in use? Even at that, not really possible.

first, ammonia should spike, then drop. then, nitrites should spike, then drop. when nitrates start to spike (and ammonia and nitrite are reading zero), your tank is cycled. water changes will keep the (toxic) nitrates under control.

it'll take a couple weeks. unless you can get some used filter media from a friend.

You'll probably wait longer than 2 weeks. And if you put fish in the tank before it's cycled, they will either die or be permanently damaged from the ammonia and/or nitrites.

i have a sump on it.. with only a bio-balls.. and on top of the bio balls is the fiber... just that.. and the sump were built new.. so, everything is new..

is a one week wait be ok?

thanks a lot guys...

no. probably closer to three weeks.

just watch for ammonia to rise and begin to fall, then nitrite to rise and begin to fall, then nitrate begin to rise.

when you are finally reading some nitrates and 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite, do a water change to lower nitrate, then add your fish one at a time, at least a few days apart.

patience...

i had to wait four weeks for my 10g to cycle, everything i put in befor that died in like 2 days, so i wouldnt risk it. id say at least a month.

i would go buy 10-15 guppies put them in for about a week and test ur water again
