ok im the guy that unfortunately had to cycle with my ray in the tank. big no no. i ordered some tetra safestart and was advised not to use it..but that stuff cost me a pretty penny. so i went ahead.
fortunately my ray is fine and healthy. my lvls are..ammonia 0ppm nitrite 0ppm and nitrate (just recently) went from 5 to 10ppm.
so dose this mean my tank is finally cycled?? or should i wait a couple for days..ammonia and nitrite lvls were 0 for 4 straight days while my nitarte was 5ppm.
then on my 5th day the ammonia went up to 0.25. nitrite stayed 0 and nitrate stayed at 5.
on my 6th day the lvls where back to 0, 0, 5
then this morning my lvls are 0, 0, 10
haven't done a water change in a week
im excited to have a cycled tank lol and that my ray pulled through. his name is Poseidon btw.
if my tank is indeed cycled how long should i wait till i do a water change and can add some carbon to clean up the water?
and how do i insure that i don't kill the bacteria that i have established?
i need to get a camera so i can introduce the great Poseidon to everyone
