Hey there, I've been adding Aqua-Pus tap Conditioner/Dechrlorinator to my water for my water changes, but decided to see if I could find out what exactly is in my water here in Winnipeg, MB. So I started searching on the net. http://www.winnipeg.ca/waterandwaste/water/quality.stm This is what I found. It states that they used flourine, and orthophosphate, are those dangerous to fish? Does my dechlorinator take those out? And would a RO system take out that stuff? I didnt see any chloromine on the page, so we can assume that that is good, (that is harder to break down that chlorine :irked:) but fluorine? othophosphate?

I wouldn't worry about them

Flourine is a natural trace element in the water in many parts of the world, other places it doesn't occur so it gets added to the water so peoples teeth dont rot. If it was naturally occuring flouride it would be 'good minerals' in the water, because it's being added it's some horrible poison??

The phosphoric acid also wont harm anything at that concentration, may leave traces of phosphate in the tank to fertalise your plants, but thats about it.

The chlorine and chlorine compounds are the main concern, and they admit theirs is above guidlines, but thats what the water treatments are designed to treat.

So keep doing what you are doing and dont loose sleep over some trace chemicals ;)

Cheers

Ian
