Is this a texas or is it mixed ? This is her breeding color huge fry.

it might be a breeding color or a texas x convict hybrid. either way a true beauty

i have never seen a texas cichlid with those breeding bars i have only seen them with breeding bar on the back half only like 4 or 5 from the tail and a black throat never with bars that far up on the face

definitely a hybrid, not sure with what looks like a young jd's bars.

She sarted out just like that picture pshtex but got dark and darker .I just was amazed by the black and wonder if any other texas turn this way.The home made red texas comment is also very close because i have seen ,even order red texas fish from the pet store and seen them turn black ,they even have flowers, fh x texas hybrids are red when juveniles
