Ok soo I've been feeding my Oscar mealworms

But everytime I feed him mealworms, later on in the day I notice something black floating around in the water... And I scoop its up out of the water with a net. This went on for about 4-5days... But yesterday I finally took a look at it and noticed that it's actually the mealworm's shell... now I'm not sure if he is spitting it back up or pooping it out. And I'm not sure if this is normal or not but it is tripping me out :| can somebody please help me out... I'm concern about my Oscar....

Thank you

Hmm maybe he isnt eating the mealworms and spitting them out where they then die and solidify. Thats what it sounds like to me

I'm not sure about that man... :| Cause I see my Oscar gobble the mealworms up like a boss... but I keep seeing the shell of the mealworms floating around in the water....

mealworms and superworms are to fish, what corn is to humans...

Can't digest the outer coating...LOL

Fish not able to digest the shell

LOL I like your example... So pretty much my Oscar spitting back up the shell is normal...? and all I gotta do is scoop out the outer shell right?

Also thank you for the reply (:

I don't think he's spitting it back out, I think he's eating it and the shell is passing through before it gets completely broken down and digested. Just like the corn example for a human :)
