Recently, our bearded dragon has been eating MUCH less than normal. It looks alright and isn't inactive or anything, but I'm worried because suddenly it quit eating as much (been going on for a couple of months). Also, can you tell what sex it is?

Looks fat and healthy to me.. Just like Rays, a fat tail is a good sign. Perhaps when they start hitting that mature age their metabolism slows down and they don't eat as much.

The 2 bulges near his vent indicate its probably a male.

Thanks Miles. We thought he was alright but didn't want to wait until it was too late.

I can't tell from that pic of yours as you can't really see the area where the sex organs are stored. Try taking a pic with tail lifted like above photo and I can tell you if its M or F.
I wouldn't worry too much about him slowing down on the feeding until he looks like he's losing weight. As they get older they tend to slow down on the feeding form time to time. Just make sure he's getting plenty of uva/uvb exposure as sometimes lack of appetite is an early sign of Metabolic Bone Disease. But in your case, with that fat happy lizard, I would say it's just that he's getting older so he's slowing down. How old is he anyway?

Looks to be a male by head size. The pic looks like it has 2 bulges above the tail
The head size thing is a myth.:) I had a female German giant with a head like a pitbull lol. Also, the buldges are on the tail itself, you can't tell by that pic.

Thanks for the elaborate description!! I never knew how to tell really.

He(?) is just over a year old. It's almost time to replace the UV light, so I think I'll do it early as a precautionary measure.
