is putting mangrove seedlings in my brackish tank a good idea?

Buy mangroves that have not been established in salt or freshwater; once they are established, they are not interchangeable. The leaves must be above the water line.

They can grow pretty fast.
And will outgrow even the largest home aquariums.
If you gave it enough time, a mangrove could even outgrow/break a johnPTC size tank.

what:confused: mangroves don't care what kind of water they are in because they can't absorb most salt and the salt they do absorb accumulates on the leaves. Which can be cleaned off with a damp cloth. So it is up to you to keep them healthy in a home aquarium but they grow naturally in area that see extreme shifts in salinity.

But yes it is a good idea you just need to know they will grow hugenormous in time and will need to be replaced. This can be held off for some time with regular pruning.
