I have seen no warnings indicating otherwise but thought that considering the amount of $ in rays in the tank, I probobly better check and be sure.

Rays are fine. Had some Gulpers develop some crud during transport.... Suspect Culminarus. Unfortunately I didn't notice it till they were already in tank. :irked:

After buying enough of this crap to treat 900 gallons I believe this is a lesson I won't soon be forgetting. Saw them a week or 2 prior and they looked fine, guessin they got way cold and stressed about the change in water conditions. (RO-> tap)

Thanks in advance for any help folks. :D

Bump I'd lik to no as well for the future

I'll let you know in a few days. Stuff's supposed to be here soon.

Would really like to hear from someone with expereince but it seems good advice is getting harder and harder to come by these days.

It is kanamycin based, IT should be safe..but why not treat in a hospital tank so you can better manage the treatment?
If your rays are not sick then why treat them?

Read it spread easily. Much rather be safe then sorry.

If I would have put them in a seperate tank I woulda saw it, but rather I just tossed them in one of the main tanks. The stuff seemed to show up after transporting to my place. I saw them at the guys house I got them from and they looked fine there. My water's way different then his, the change, the temp, the stress? Suspect Columnaris I believe it was.

Is this something that might not affect the rays???

columnaris is a nasty bacteria, flexibacter columnaris. I guess it could affect a ray's gill tissue, if that's what you have, but not scales, as rays don't have scales
also increase aeration and do NOT raise temperature.
Always quarantine new fish.

Did some searching on this site when I first knew something was wrong. Gut feeling was to salt and raise temp. Good thing I did some reading first cause raising temp sounds like one of the worst things you can do for this stuff.

The Gulpers that have it don't have scales either. Thier blisters seems to be similar to some symptoms of Columnaris.

I usually do QT. But with Marbles, Rhaphs, and MBU sucking up all the tanks I didn't really have room, like I said I saw them a few time at my buddies place and they seemed fine there.

Another enlightening experience.....

Thank you for contributing Mr. Webber. Your advise is always appreciated.

sounds like a good excuse to buy a new tank!
:)

Don't need another tank, just need my big tank up and running :(

Just wanted to update those that were curious. It's been over 24 hours since meds were introduced. Rays are pale. I believe this is due to the temp. After diagnosis the heaters were unplugged. Temp dropped to 74. Nothing noticeable in any of the other fish. Still no signs of the disease spreading to any of the other fish. No change in any appetites.

Saw one of the Gulpers out swimming this morning. They have all been hiding the last 4-5 days.

Good luck and keep us updated.
