I've been reading alot about shipping on here lately and everyone seems to complain about the shipping be really high. But I think about it. And I've driven upwards of 6hours or more in one state for a prize fish. The gas good and everything else spent I think shipping is alot less hassle and money... any thoughts??

If it's a fish that you want and can't get locally then it's no problem, I don't mind shipping charges at all.

Also helps if you're buying multiple fish so it averages out over all of them. My LFS has pretty high prices, so if I buy enough it can actually be cheaper than the LFS. Of course I live in the same state as Aquascapeonline AND Tangledupincichlids so shipping is not that bad to begin with...

unless its a private seller who doesn't ship often and thus has no merchant account to get discount shipping with, I've always found the price for shipping more than reasonable. Especially considering all the care the seller has to take with packaging.

+1, it's not like you can just throw a fish in a box and send him on his way.

Just look at fuel costs and that will explain high shipping rates. USPS is the cheapest but least reliable. FedEx and Southwest are the best to me, but its the 1 box shipments that will kill you and never order fish during a holiday, trust me.

Shipping for me is usually $50-60 , which has always been one box. I always make sure the box is full as previously stated.

Yeah shipping can be high but not as high as buying your own gas for for long road trips.I've done a few fish trips to get what I want but I think a good bit of the membership here would not be willing to take long drives for that long sought after fish so the shipping can't be gotten around. You just have to chalk up the shipping as part of the cost of the fish.
