I apologize for the foggy picture, water change.
I noticed the one side of his mouth has a red discoloration. Any insights?
He's acting normal

Are there other fish with him. Could be they were fighting.

If that doesn't look better in a few days he might have a bacterial infection often referred to as duck lips. For now I would put some API Freshwater Aquarium salt in the water and hope that it heals. Duck lips require an antibiotic.

You can try a methylene blue bath or metronidazole in food

He's in a 55 alone besides a lace cat and a pictus, I salted the tank when I got home today

I had a big male firemouth that had something similar happen to him once. The only thing I could think of that happened was he was in a tank with some Cory catfish and maybe he bit it and the spine poked him. The swolen area went down in a few days hopefully it's something as simple as that for your fish

+1

Flexibactor columnaris aka Flavobacterium columnare aka Duck Lips is not something to sit back & wait on - with the more virulent strains of this bacteria ones fish can be dead in less than a week.
