the Office living in the now...
I have been using Hikari for many years and my fish love all of their products.

Recently there is a new product: Hikari Tropical JUMBO CARNISTICKS that I wanted to try out. There was only one problem, I work very hard for my money and $$IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE!$$

They seem to look like the Original: Hikari Tropical FOOD STICKS just much larger for "monster fish".

So weeks after they were released Hikari Finally released their guaranteed analysis cause I wanted to know what was in this product since the price is very high.

I searched everywhere for fair prices and these are the best I have found:

Jumbo Carnisticks 17.6oz - $40 = 1.1lbs

Food Sticks 35.2oz - $45 = 2.2lbs

This is a $$$$40.00(jumbo) product per pound vs $22.50(food sticks) product per pound!

Correct me if i am wrong but the only difference I see is the jumbo has max 2% "more" crude ash and min 1.0% phosphorus.

I want to give my fish the best when I powerfeed So I want to know what you guys thought about this product.

used the new carni sticks, and my fish hit them hard and right away, and they eat less and seem full.i wouldnt use neither as a staple.

why not use as a staple diet

I make my own gel food. I know what's in it, it contains absolutely NO wheat or other fillers, and I can vary their diet much easier (and cheaper) this way.

I fed this for the first time today and my aro loved it. He ate with much more enthusiasm than he usually does. Although I agree it's pretty expensive, it doesn't seem to steep to me because my aro is still relatively small and it'll take him a while to go through one bag.

based on the ingredients and guaranteed analysis etc, it's basically the larger size version of the original food sticks, much like how massivore delite is the larger size version of the sinking carnivore pellets.

i feed massivore for my larger fish not on the merit that it's more nutritious than the sinking carnivore, but that it's more appealing to the large fish since the pellets are larger, and for fish that are sometimes picky or not very good or fast 'hunter' (i have bichirs), they might end up eating effectively more because each massivore pellet they eat would be equivalent to several sinking carnivore pellets.

i think the same can be said with the jumbo sticks. If your fish would just gobble down anything you throw in the tank, i think the original food sticks would be just fine, unless your fish are large and the jumbo size sticks might be more convenient.

Oh, also, I don't power feed, so I'm not gonna go through a lot in a little bit of time. It is more expensive, but after gauging my aro's reaction, I think I'll keep feeding.

I bought a bag just to try it. If your fish eats the regular one I would just keep using that till the jumbos get cheaper. I am sure they will have a 2.2 lb bag soon. This is what I am gonna do. On a side note my bigger fish stopped eating the regular ones a while ago until I threw in the jumbos and they eat em again. But I am fine with them eating massivore. My conclusion big fish like big food lol.
